CARING FOR YOUR TEMPORARIES

Your temporary teeth are a rough draft of your final smile. They will not be exact replicas but wearing these will be a trial run to see if you like the shade, length, and the shape. Keep in mind – your real crowns or veneers will be a lot more life-like, smoother, stronger, and will not be connected in one.
WHAT CAN I EAT?
Do not bite into anything directly with your front temporaries, like pizza, sandwiches, apples, etc. Your back teeth are your best friends during this time.
Avoid hard foods like nuts, granola, crusty bread, apples, etc. To avoid staining your temporaries, stay away from brightly colored foods such as curry, turmeric, berries, red wine, and tea. Don’t worry – your final crowns will not stain.
HYGIENE
Do not use your retainer or night guard during this time in your temporaries unless it is on the opposite arch as your treatment.
Brush your teeth as your normally would; Waterpik use is ok. Do NOT floss during this time.
WHAT IF I HAVE A PROBLEM?
If your temporaries break or fall off, please call our office immediately. This is more common than you may think. This may indicate that your final crowns need to be changed due to the way your teeth bite together.
It is totally normal for your gums and teeth to be sensitive while you are in your temporaries.
WE”RE HERE FOR YOU
You may be in your temporaries for 3-4 weeks. We will not cement your permanent crowns unless they are exactly the way you want them.
